Hypno-psychotherapy
A hypno-psychotherapist uses psychotherapeutic techniques, sometimes within the state of hypnosis, to affect change, accessing a client’s inherent resources. It is an integrative approach using a broad range of techniques and tools such as NLP, EFT, Resource Therapy and so on.
Psychotherapy
By using an integrative approach the therapist is able to best match the techniques, approaches and psychotherapeutic models with the issues that the individual client faces at different stages in therapy. Some of the models that may be used are Psychodynamic, CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy), TA (Transactional Analysis), Person-Centred and Gestalt. It is usual to explore a client's present, past and future within therapy.
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a completely natural state of awareness - somewhere in-between wakefulness and sleep. It involves a dissociation from the outside world that is so common in everyday life that everyone experiences it at least several times a day. Hypnosis for therapeutic purposes is a state of profound relaxation that you allow yourself to enter and which you can choose to come out of at any time. You may feel very heavy, relaxed, lethargic or quite light and tingly. It is a wonderful and relaxing experience and a safe and effective way to work towards achieving beneficial change.
Treatment offers relief for a wide range of issues such as:
Psychotherapy and counselling can offer a client a non-judgemental and confidential space within which they can explore their thoughts and feelings with someone who has genuine empathy and the ability to listen. This understanding and support can help someone to gain fresh perspectives, self-awareness, new and beneficial coping strategies and a greater insight. The therapeutic relationship is very much collaborative but does keep the voice of the client central to the direction of therapy.
Hypnotherapy is a gentle and non-invasive therapeutic method that enables a client to enlist the help of their subconscious mind to bring about rapid and effective therapeutic changes. The benefits of the state of hypnosis itself are increased levels of relaxation and decreased levels of anxiety and stress. A therapist will guide the client into this state of comfortable relaxation and in doing so help them to tap into their inner resources, enabling them to achieve realistic goals and positive changes by discovering and utilising new responses, thoughts and feelings and dispelling negative ones.
